A PANTOMIME animal race will be the highlight of a fun day at Ruskin Park in Walkley, Sheffield, on Saturday, July 7, from 1pm to 6pm.
The course is a steeplechase with its own version of Becher’s Brook, called Beeches Brook and provided by Chris Beech, the Walkley butcher.
The race starts at 3.30pm, with categories for under eights, eights to 12s, and 13-plus. Prizes will include tickets to the Lyceum panto. For entrants without a costume, Art in the Park will be on hand from 1pm.
Other entertainment organised by The Friends of Ruskin Park includes music, a bouncy castle, a climbing wall, face painting, football, guitar demonstrations, Chinese calligraphy and bee-keeping advice.
Refreshments will be on sale from Our Gert’s café and The Blake Hotel opposite the park, who will be serving a Ruskin Pale Ale for the event. Money made on the day will go towards improving park facilities.
