EX-OASIS singer songwriter Noel Gallagher is back fronting a new chart-topping band and tickets are expected to sell out in minutes tomorrow for a Sheffield date - but we have SIX to be won.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds this week added Sheffield and six other cities to their 2012 UK tour due to phenomenal demand which saw 85,000 tickets snapped up and an initial seven arena dates sold out.
The band will now play the Motorpoint Arena Sheffield on Sunday, February 19.
Their self-titled debut album went straight to number one last month and has been certified platinum as one of only four albums this year with sales in excess of 100,000 in its first week.
In comparison the debut album by the band fronted by Noel’s brother Liam, Beady Eye’s Different Gear, Still Speeding, sold almost 67,000 copies when it charted at number three in March.
Former Oasis frontman Liam played to a sold-out crowd at Sheffield’s O2 Academy but performed only tracks from his new album.
Fans are expecting a bigger treat from Noel who has been performing not just his solo album on tour but some of the greatest hits he wrote for Oasis, including Wonderwall, Supersonic, Half The World Away, Little By Little and Don’t Look Back In Anger.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, based in Manchester, includes former Oasis session pianist Mike Rowe, drummer Jeremy Stacey of The Lemon Trees, former bassist for The Zutons Russell Pritchard and percussionist Lenny Castro.
Tickets for their Sheffield date, limited to four per customer, are £35, £45 and £59.50 and may be subject to a booking fee. They go on sale tomorrow, Friday, November 25, at 9am.
