THE work of museums, historic houses and heritage sites in Derbyshire will be honoured at an awards bash.

The winners of this year’s Derbyshire Heritage Awards will be announced at a ceremony at Crich Tramway Museum tonight.

Categories include best event, best exhibition and award for work with children and young people and a new addition - the outstanding volunteer Award - which recognises volunteers who have made a significant contribution to their site and who have encouraged and inspired others.

This year’s judges include Joy Hales, editor of Derbyshire Life magazine and Pete Newby, volunteer centres Derbyshire.

The results of the awards, organised by Derbyshire Heritage Forum, will be posted on social networking site Twitter live from the event on http://twitter.com/MuseumsForum
