A SHEFFIELD architectural design company has been nominated for a top industry prize.

A house created by Coda Studios for a private client in Worrall Road in Worrall, on the outskirts of Sheffield, has reached the finals of the Build It Magazine 2012 awards.

The company is nominated as Best Self Build Architect or Designer – a category voted for by Build It readers – and the winner will be announced at a ceremony at the National Self Build & Renovation Centre on October 25.

The Worrall house is a striking contemporary five-bedroom family home built around a central drum clad in iroko hardwood and featuring two wings clad in Welsh slate.

The nomination is the latest accolade for Coda, whose managing director David Cross was recently named South Yorkshire Property Personality of the Year.

Coda also won a South Yorkshire and Humber LABC Building Excellence award for the new acclaimed hexagonal extension to the Rob Royd Farm Shop in Worsbrough, near Barnsley.

“This has been a great year for the whole Coda team and these awards and nominations are recognition of the hard work everybody has put into our success,” said David.

“As self-build specialists we are delighted to have been nominated for this latest accolade, especially as it will be voted for by the people who really count – genuine self-build enthusiasts!”

The Build It Awards 2012 will celebrate all aspects of self build and renovation including completed projects, products, services and suppliers.

The awards bring together architects, manufacturers and key industry figures in recognition of innovation and excellence in the custom home sector.
