Free bus travel to stay - for now

CLIVE Betts, MP for Sheffield South East, has won a Government commitment that concessionary bus travel for OAPs will be kept - at least for this parliament.

Mr Betts questioned transport minister Norman Baker in the Commons, saying: “David Cameron, Nick Clegg and others have all been making proposals to means-test a range of universal benefits, including concessionary bus travel for pensioners. I’m delighted the minister has been forced to keep the commitment - at least for the lifetime of this parliament.”
