Double treat for gardeners

TWO very different gardens in a Doncaster village will be opening their gates to the public for charity next weekend.

David and Christine Gilson will be opening their garden at The Aucklands in Sykehouse for the first time, while the owners of BJ Nurseries, Jim and Linda Bennett, are old hands at welcoming the public to their five-acre plot.

Both gardens are in Broad Lane and will be open from 10am to 5pm on Sunday, June 19, with a joint admission charge of £5.

A well laid out traditional kitchen garden is the main attraction at The Aucklands, along with herbaceous borders and bedding plants.

BJ Nurseries, which will also be serving teas, is displaying over 500 varieties of perennials in mass planting schemes, as well as woodland and a lake.
