Demand sees hotel prices rise

Average hotel prices in Sheffield have gone up - thanks to demand from domestic and international visitors.

A new survey found the average room-rate in Sheffield has risen 4 per cent to £62.

The index, in its eighth year, chronicles prices paid by travellers in more than 142,000 hotels across the world.

Sheffield moved up two places to 18th most popular destination in the UK for domestic travellers, while it was 25th for overseas visitors.

Yorkshire is said to be a popular for its landmarks, attractions and events.
