Comic shop is still out of this world... after 35 years

Have your say

A Sheffield comic shop is celebrating 35 years in business – having survived road reorganisations, bus gates and the 2007 floods which hit the city.

Sheffield Space Centre on The Wicker specialises in comics, manga, science fiction and fantasy in literature, film and TV.

The shop opened originally on London Road, Heeley Bottom, in 1978 and moved to its current location in 1986.

Highlights have included visits by Watchmen creators Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons and X-Men writer Chris Claremont. The shop also ran Sheffield’s first Doctor Who event, with Colin Baker, in 1990.
