A nativity scene, snow, reindeer, brass bands and live music are being laid on to entertain the crowds in one of Sheffield’s busiest shopping areas.
The Moor is hosting a festive extravaganza on Sunday for its Christmas lights switch-on, held to coincide with the main city centre lights switch-on event in the Peace Gardens.
Entertainment will take place on the street between 1pm and 5pm, with the switch-on taking place at 3pm, carried out by characters from children’s TV programme, The Strawberry Shortcakes.
Sandra Barley, centre liaison manager for The Moor, said: “Our party is one of the main events and a highlight of the year, offering entertainment for all generations.
“To me, Christmas starts here, and with the new markets opening in just over a week, offering an even greater choice of foods and goods, we believe it will be a very busy and fun-filled Christmas season.”
On Sunday, The Moor is bringing its own snow and will also host a living nativity, a brass band and other live music.
For little ones, there will be real reindeer as well as face painting and Christmas fair rides.
There will be street entertainment along with free tasty treats available as shoppers browse the stores.
The main Christmas lights switch-on is being held in the Peace Gardens, with entertainment from 2pm and Real Radio DJs Dixie and Gayle flicking the switch at 5.30pm.
