BOXING champ Clinton Woods will be immortalised in steel after being chosen by Sheffielders to be part of a national art project.

The portrait bench will adorn a new route for pedestrians and cyclists which will link the village of Killamarsh with Halfway, building two new bridges over road and rail while also upgrading sections of the Chesterfield Canal towpath.

Each bench features three lifesize 2-D portraits of characters nominated by the local community.

Clinton Woods grew up in Westfield in the south east of Sheffield, and became the IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion in 2005 beating Rico Hoye. He now works with young people, helping to motivate them and passing on his hard-working ethic.
