A Sheffield hair salon owner proved a cut above the rest after styling the model of the moment’s hair at London Fashion Week.

Julie Smith, of Tall Poppy salon on Campo Lane in the city centre, was part of a team working on model Cara Delevigne’s hair before she strutted down the catwalk for Topshop Unique.

The 33-year-old spent three days racing around the capital to style at various designer shows, meeting celebrities along the way.

Mum-of-one Julie, of Ecclesfield, said: “This is my fourth fashion week season but it was the best so far because I got bigger shows - one was at the National History Museum and at another singer Paloma Faith came backstage.

“It’s so buzzy and busy and exciting.

“Getting around London when you have three shows to do in one day is pretty hectic.

“Cara was really chilled out. She had rushed straight in from the Mulberry show 10 minutes before the Topshop one.

“It was a beach look we had to create.

“We had a bit of a joke because I was pulling her hair and she said she didn’t feel pain any more.”

Julie was able to style at the fashion week thanks to working with company L’Oreal alongside her salon business.

She curled and combed with some of the biggest names in the hair business and styled for designer Bernard Chandran, which makes clothes for Malaysian royalty.

Julie added: “We do take inspiration from the week - the looks we use at Topshop could easily be replicated in the salon.

“It was spring/summer 2014 that we were doing so we know what is going to be in fashion and the upcoming trends for next year, which keeps us one step ahead.”
