Organisers of a South Yorkshire car cruise are aiming to change the perception of the gatherings.

Hundreds of cars and their owners are set to descend on an area between Sheffield and Rotherham on Sunday evening for the Modified Cruise UK event.

Organisers are inviting families and car enthusiasts along, promising that any anti-social behaviour will be dealt with immediately.

Richard Pearson, aged 34, from Rotherham, said: “We are not tolerating any bother. Anyone committing anti-social behaviour will be asked to leave.”

Chris Spall, 35, from Catcliffe, said: “We are trying to change opinions on car cruising. We are like-minded people who share the same passion. We all work hard and have things which we spend money on and ours is cars. We like showing them off and letting people look around them.”

The exact location of the gathering will be revealed on the club’s Facebook page on Sunday afternoon.
