Budding Rotherham artists to show creative skills

Have your say

YOUNG people have the chance to showcase their artistic talents with the launch of the Rotherham Youth Art Exhibition.

Community charity organisations Art in the Park and Open Minds Theatre Company are launching the exhibition and are looking for young people to submit their artwork before the launch on September 13.

Artwork will be displayed commission-free in the Old Market Gallery, Corporation Street, Rotherham.

A gallery spokesperson said: “All sorts of submissions are welcome, from visual arts to digital arts, audio and films, poetry and more.

“We want to provide a platform for the talent of young people in this area.”

The exhibition is being run in conjunction with ‘Somewhereto’, a Cultural Olympiad project to help young people find the space they need to do the things they love within sport, culture and the arts.

Young people are also being given the opportunity to organise and curate their own display so they can gain behind-the-scenes knowledge and experience of how galleries and exhibitions work. The final date for submitting work is September 5.
