SCHOOLCHILDREN, volunteers and members of an environmental organisation are getting together to brighten up a South Yorkshire neighbourhood.
Rotherham Council's Wentworth South Area Assembly has granted funding for a makeover of planters on St Nicholas Walk, Rawmarsh.
Spring flowers will be planted on Saturday January 29, between 10 am and noon, by pupils from Rawmarsh Community School and young volunteers from the High Street Centre who will assist members of Groundwork Dearne Valley.
Refreshments will also be provided to those involved by Rawmarsh Tenants' and Residents' Association.
Linda Sales, of Rawmarsh TARA, said: "Residents on St Nicholas Walk have planted the pots up themselves before to make the area nicer but we also knew of the good work Groundwork had already done in the area.
She said: "I approached them about carrying out further improvements and here they are assisting us with this project."
