THE chief executive at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust swapped his suit and tie for scrubs as he ventured down to theatres joining his skilled team of surgeons for a session in theatre.
Simon Morritt, who took up the role of chief executive in June, went ‘back to the floor’ to observe some of the country’s top specialists performing complex operations.
Simon, who toured the theatres, got an insight into the current surgical practice at the hospital. He
said: “Going back to the floor was a great experience and one I very much enjoyed. Our team in theatres are highly skilled staff who change lives every day and it was fascinating to watch their precision.
“One of the highlights for me was seeing first hand the fantastic team work that happens day in and day out in theatres and the care that is taken with each and every patient.”
Last month Trust chairman Nick Jeffrey spent the day in the kitchens learning the ropes and more members of the Trust Board will be visiting different departments in the coming months.
