Big screen on tour for Games

Have your say

Thousands of people in Barnsley will be able to enjoy super-sized Olympic celebrations – thanks to a big screen.

Barnsley is the only place in the country where a mobile big screen will tour communities during the Games.

It will visit about 60 locations throughout Barnsley during London 2012, starting with a ticket-only event in Mandela Gardens for the opening ceremony on July 27.

The initiative is provided by Barnsley 2012, a programme of sporting and cultural activities inspired by the Games and supported by the Newham Barnsley Partnership (NBP), after Barnsley partnered with Newham, the Games principal host borough.

Oliver Coppard, partnership manager, said: “It is about enjoying the Olympics in a celebratory atmosphere.”
