A ‘celebration of British beer’ is returning to Sheffield for a second year – and thousands of people are expected to attend.

The Society of Independent Brewers is holding its Beer X event again between March 11 and 15 next year.

The beer festival took place for the first time at Ponds Forge earlier this year but the second festival will be at iceSheffield, in the Don Valley.

Organisers said they wanted a ‘bigger venue’ to accommodate the numbers of visitors anticipated.

Beer X kicks off on Tuesday, March 11, with the judging of SIBA’s National Beer Competitions for cask, bottled and keg beers where 120 judges will taste more than 300 beers.

The festival opens to the public on Wednesday, March 12, from 5.30pm then continues on Thursday evening and all day Friday and Saturday – when the Everly Pregnant Brothers will play.
