Barnsley MP Michael Dugher has called on British Cycling to support a bid by Tour de Yorkshire to extend the 2016 cross-county cycling event to four days, after this year’s event drew crowds of over 1.5 million spectators to Yorkshire.

In a cross-party letter to the President of British Cycling, Mr Dugher and fellow MPs sought the cycling organisation’s support for the bid, which would bring increased tourism to the region.
