SONNETS by William Shakespeare have been explored by new audiences as part of a community project.
A combination of elderly Sheffield Homes tenants, long-term NHS service users and young people not in employment or training have been studying Shakespeare’s poetry in a scheme run by Sheffield-based Art in the Park.
The group created individual artwork - from textiles to photography - as part of the project.
And tonight they will showcase the fruits of their labour at a launch at Sheffield University’s Jessop West Foyer, Upper Hanover Way from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
Cassie Kill, Art in the Park project manager, said: “The aim of the project has been to encourage ownership of the sonnets and promote an enjoyment of reading, writing and the visual arts with groups who traditionally wouldn’t get the opportunity, and we feel we’ve been very successful.”
The exhibition will be open every weekday until June 21.
