YOUNG Air Cadets got stuck in packing bags at a Sheffield supermarket to raise cash for essential training equipment.

The group from the 860 Mosborough Squadron Air Training Corps rolled up their sleeves to help shoppers at Sainbury's in Crystal Peaks.

Simon Hubbard, officer commanding flight lieutenant, said: "The cadets were professional in their approach to bag packing which, for many, was their first such fundraiser.

"They were very smartly turned out and a credit to the unit and more importantly, themselves.

"They should be very proud of the effort they put in and the money raised reflects this.

"I am very proud of their effort."

The group raised an impressive 2,323.

The squadron will put the money towards adventure training equipment which will allow them to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

Boys and girls aged between 13 and 17 are welcome to join the Air Cadets which meets every Tuesday and Thursday between 6.45pm and 9.15pm.
