ROTHERHAM College has stepped in to keep arts and culture alive after the closure of the town’s Art Gallery and Studio Theatre.

A replacement venue is not due to open until 2012 and, in the meantime, Rotherham College of Arts and Technology is inviting members of the public to take advantage of the facilities and spaces within the Town Centre Campus on Eastwood Lane.

Requests for group bookings can be made to utilise the College’s Studio Theatre for meetings and performances. Exhibition space will also become available for hire from September along with recording studios, dance studios and radio studios.

Martyn Howells, the college’s curriculum leader for performing arts, said: “We have excellent facilities which could be used by the organisations and arts groups within Rotherham.”

Arts groups wishing to use the college should email or call 01709 722787.
