Art with politics at new exhibition

The hunt is on for artists keen to see their work featured in a major three day exhibition which will be part of Sheffield University’s Festival of the Mind in September.

The event at Bank Street Arts beginning on September 18 is being organised by arts organisation Ignite Imaginations and the Crick Centre.

Our Corner - Art as Political Expression will take as its themes discrimination, inequality and sense of place, and proposed submissions must be in by August 8.

The exhibition will also feature daily workshops and evening open mic sessions where members of the public can come along and participate in artistic expression and public debate to push and probe the boundaries of art as a political medium.

Artists are being invited to send up to five images of their multimedia work, paintings, photography and installations.

Film makers are also invited to submit short films of up to ten minutes on the same themes to be showcased in one of the gallery spaces.
