Arctics top of the charts for ‘streaming’ on the internet

Sheffield’s Arctic Monkeys have been named as the most streamed artists of the past year on the internet.

The band, who headlined the Glastonbury Festival last year and had fifth album, AM, nominated for the Mercury music prize, topped a list compiled by the British Phonographic Industry and the Official Charts Company.

AM, released in September, also topped the charts for vinyl sales.

Streaming is where music is listened to online but not downloaded.
