Allotment holders get ready to show off plots

Have your say

Gardeners are getting ready for an annual celebration of food growing this Sunday, September 22.

Allotment Soup is a creative and artistic event based on allotment culture - and this year it is gardeners at Grimesthorpe Allotments in Sheffield who will be opening up their plots.

This year’s theme is Partners In Grime, and along with amazing allotments the day will feature apple pressing, art installations, circus skills, performances and poetry, acoustic music, herbal magic, crafts, fruit and veg, tea and cake, growers, artists, children’s activities, storytelling and an allotment shop.

From noon to 5pm visitors can take a trail around the allotment site, and from 6pm to 8pm there will be evening entertainment and soup, weather permitting.

The nearest postcode to the allotments is S4 8LE, and visitors should head for the gate opposite the top of Torbay Road. Buses 20, 20a, 75, 76, 87, and 88 all pass nearby.
