A DONCASTER Rovers-mad schoolboy has trounced the competition to be named the Face of Rovers Telecom.
Nine-year-old Aidan Smith, from Gowdall, won the most Facebook ‘likes’ in an online competition, making him the frontman for a new mobile phone network for Rovers fans.
The new Pay As You Go network has been launched by Rovers Telecom, a partnership between the club and Doncaster-based communications specialist Kat Communications.
Aidan met his favourite player Tommy Spurr at the training ground to be presented with his prize of an iPad2 and a Rovers SIM card.
Mum Karen said: “He was just gobsmacked when he won. Aidan printed out lots of notes for his school friends to encourage them to vote. He even stood up in assembly to canvas votes.” He will now fronts the campaign to promote Rovers Mobile.
