New headquarters for rescue team

EDALE Mountain Rescue Team has moved into its new base in Hope after years of fundraising to turn the dream into a reality.

Volunteers who give up their spare time to help people in trouble in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire countryside now have state-of-the-art facilities from which to co-ordinate search and rescue operations.

The team, based at the Lafarge cement works in Hope for over 25 years, has been given extra space to park four rescue vehicles, store equipment and medical supplies, and carry out maintenance work.

A new mobile control vehicle - a Mercedes Sprinter van donated by South Yorkshire police and fitted out for search operations - was unveiled.
