Mum's shower shock

SHEFFIELD mum Sarah Gill thought she'd bagged a bargain when she snapped up a top brand shower in a DIY store sale.

The Mira shower had been reduced from 150 to 120 - and Sarah couldn't wait to get it fitted to complete a new-look bathroom at her home in Westfield Grove, Westfield.

She arranged for a plumber to install the product and popped out while he did the job.

But, when she returned, she was outraged to find the shower on her wall was not the model featured on the box.

Instead, it was a cheaper B&Q own-brand model, on sale for about 70 - which had been put in a Mira box by mistake.

The same day, Sarah rushed back to B&Q in Darnall to ask for a refund of the difference.

But she was unimpressed with the response.

The mum-of-two said: "I was prepared to keep the shower because I had just paid to have it fitted, but I was not prepared to spend 120 on it.

"But the manager told me the only way I could have a refund was if I returned the product.

"I explained that I was not prepared to pay for a plumber to take out the wrong product and then re-fit the new one - and he replied, 'I don't know what you want me to do about it'.

"In the end I had to just walk away because I would be more out of pocket if I took the thing out than if I just forget about the 50 difference!

"The most disappointing thing is I have spent a lot of money at B&Q - we bought the bathroom tiles, suite, everything - and had been really pleased.

"Now I have a cheap shower that looks out of place."

A B&Q spokesman said: "We are sorry to hear of the problems being experienced by Sarah.

"Having raised her concerns with us, we have forwarded them to our customer services action team to look into as a matter of urgency."
