Minister will visit Sheffield

FLOOD Minister Anne McIntosh will visit Sheffield tomorrow to see the impact of the floods on the city.

The Minister will visit homes and businesses before discussing methods of flood prevention, flood defence and warning systems in the city.

She said roads such as The Wicker suffered significant damage during the June disaster and she wants to remind colleagues in Westminster about Sheffield’s needs.

The Minister added: “The devastating effects of the floods in Sheffield must not be forgotten. Over 1,000 businesses were affected, significant damage was done to roads and infrastructure, and over 1,400 people attended reception centres. More tragically, two people lost their lives in the incident. I want take a powerful message back to Westminster as to what must be done in the future to protect areas such as Sheffield.”
