Following their 2025 visit to the city with the ‘Looking Back - Living The Years 2025 Tour’, Mike + The Mechanics are getting Back On Track with a UK tour and announced a Sheffield City Hall show in 2027, here’s how you can get tickets
Formed in 1985 by Mike Rutherford “as a side project to Genesis”, Mike + The Mechanics originally featured Paul Young (Sad Café) and Sheffield music legend Paul Carrack (Ace, Squeeze) as frontmen.
Together, they found huge commercial success and critical acclaim throughout the ’80s and ’90s achieving number ones all over the world and going on to sell over 10 million albums.
Now, the beloved English rock band have announced that they will be returning to the city with a Sheffield City Hall show on June 14, 2027, as part of their 2027 UK tour.
Driven by a relentless desire to write and perform music following a hiatus between 2005 and 2010, Mike Rutherford (he of Genesis fame) reformed the group with a brand-new lineup featuring Andrew Roachford, Tim Howar, Luke Juby, Anthony Drennan, and Gary Wallis. This core group has remained the heart and soul of Mike + The Mechanics ever since.
The newly formed band clicked instantly, sparking a wave of creative synergy that led to the release of their 2011 album, ‘The Road’, and their subsequent debut tour – as a new line-up.
Tickets for their Back On Track Tour 2027 go on sale from 9am, Friday 25 September from Ticketmaster

This reinvigorated collective have achieved remarkable success in the years that followed, releasing three albums (two of which reached the UK top 10), and have taken to the stage for an impressive total of 374 concerts since.
Drummer Nic Collins stepped in for Gary Wallis during the 2023 Refuelled! Tour, joining the lineup as the band continued to deliver a series of stellar live shows that has resulted in critical acclaim.
Mike Rutherford says, “It occurred to me when we started talking about this tour that the core of this line up is the longest standing we have had with The Mechanics!”
“It is absolute testament to Roach, Tim, Luke and Anthony that we are going back on the road again - they are wonderful musicians and wonderful people, and the way Nic slotted in not only brought down the bands average age quite considerably, but brings a different energy, which has been a real cherry on the cake!”
“I can’t wait to be doing this again, I honestly don’t think we would if it wasn’t for these gentlemen, 17 years have flown by! We look forward to seeing you soon.”
Expect a night filled with timeless classics, including ‘Over My Shoulder’, ‘The Living Years’, and ‘All I Need Is A Miracle’, alongside a selection of beloved Genesis hits.
Divided into two legs, the UK tour kicks off on May 8, 2027 with a performance on June 14, 2027, at Sheffield City Hall before heading to Germany. They return to the UK at London's Royal Albert Hall on June 14, 2027.
