Michael and Bryan welcomed on board

TWO council tenants are now able to have a say on housing issues across the city after becoming management company Sheffield Homes' latest board members.

Michael Shepherd, aged 32, from Low Edges, and Bryan Greenwood, of the Badger estate in Woodhouse, became the organisation’s newest directors after winning a residents’ ballot.

Board members Lily McCall and Jose Derrick were re-elected.

Peter Morton, chief executive of Sheffield Homes, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Michael and Bryan onto the board and welcome their years of experience as council tenants.

“It is also good to see younger people like Michael becoming involved in Sheffield Homes as we make efforts to attract a wide range of people from different backgrounds and we are trying to encourage more of this.”

Mr Shepherd has been a tenant for 14 years and is currently a tenant representative for the Decent Homes modernisation work being carried out in Low Edges.

The married father-of-four is also a former board member of the Norfolk Park Tenants and Residents Association and plans to use his experiences of bringing up a young family to help deliver services to benefit families and young people.

Mr Greenwood, a council tenant of 35 years, is treasurer of the Badger estate TARA and says he will use his experience of neighbourhood issues while working on the board.
