In memory of star Colin

FANS of car rallying due to gather at Chatsworth this weekend will pay an emotional tribute to former world rally champion Colin McRae, who died in a helicopter crash this month.

The Rally Show is being staged in the grounds of the Peak District stately home.

On Sunday, the Banbury-based Pro-drive Team will display the Subaru Impreza 555 that MBE holder Colin drove for them in 1996, when he finished runner-up the 1996 FIA World Rally Championship.

In 1995 Colin, eldest son of five-times British Rally Champion Jimmy McRae, became the first Briton to win the FIA World Rally Championship, ending the season by leading a Subaru 1-2-3 at the Rally of Great Britain.

The Pro-drive Team will also provide a Book of Condolence, available to all Chatsworth visitors

And 1979 Swedish World Rally Champion Bjorn Waldegaard will be one of the stars at Chatsworth, standing in for his fellow countryman Stig Blomqvist, who is unwell.

The world-famous RAF Red Arrows display team will fly over Chatsworth at about 12.50 on Saturday.

Tickets are available via www.therallyshow.org or at the main gate on each day.
