Meadowhall on way back

MORE than 200 stores have now reopened at Meadowhall after the summer floods.

The shopping complex was forced to close for the first time in its history in June after its lower floors were left under several feet of brown, muddy water. Around 100 customers were rescued from an emergency camp set up in Debenhams after the River Don burst its banks and the centre flooded.

Now, after a massive cleanup, more than 200 stores are now open for business, including Cecil Gee, Hugo Boss, Swarovski, Clinton Cards and The Lounge. A new Primark has also opened its doors.

Charlotte Burton, PR manager at Meadowhall, said: "The store re-opening programme has really gathered momentum over the last couple of weeks, and with more set to open it won't be long before we're back up to our full complement.”
