Man taken ill after arrest

A DRONFIELD man arrested at Manchester airport for assaulting a member of staff suffered a suspected heart attack in custody and was rushed from the police station to hospital.

The 65-year-old was arrested on racial public order and common assault charges after allegedly verbally abusing a member of the airline staff with an "inappropriate racist comment."

He is reported to have been angry about an issue concerning wheelchair assistance.

He then tried to take the Asian woman's photograph.

He was arrested, but later complained of chest pains. He was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital where he remained under observation yesterday.
