Malcolm is King of the Manor

IS THAT the King, alive and well and singing on the Manor?

Well actually it’s Sheffield’s very own Elvis impersonator Malcolm Simmons - but the members of Manor Older People’s Holiday Club didn’t mind a bit.

They saw Malcom perform a medley of Elvis hits including Love Me Tender, Falling in Love with You - and clapped their hands raw in appreciation.

Malcolm, who is warden at St Swithun’s Church on Cary Road, Fairleigh, joined a team of volunteers, led by Church Army officer Sister Alison Wooding, to lay on a week of holiday activities including crafts, trips and food.

The church was transformed briefly into a Hawaiian beach, with deckchairs, sand, and umbrellas.

And there were activities for youngsters too.

Sister Alison, who has led the club for the last two years, and works with older people in and around churches in the parish, said Elvis had helped the week get off to a “rockin good start.”
