Free Lucy & Yak fashion fair with clothing repairs and panels takes over Peddlers Warehouse

"Lucy & Yak began in Yorkshire, with Lucy and Chris living in a van called Yak and selling vintage clothes, so bringing the Circular Fashion Fair to Sheffield feels like coming home.”

A sustainable Yorkshire clothing brand will host a free fashion fair in Sheffield.

Lucy & Yak is bringing a free three-day fashion fair to Sheffield, with second-hand shopping, live clothing repairs and creative workshops.

The clothing brand will host its first Circular Fashion Fair at Peddler Warehouse in Neepsend from Friday, October 23, to Sunday, October 25.

Entry to the event will be free, with no ticket needed.

Lucy & Yak opened in their Sheffield store as part of the £470million Heart of the City development back in March.

It has since become known for its dungarees, jumpers and boilersuits in colourful and playful patterns in an inclusive range of sizes, all showcased by a diverse roster of models.

The fair will celebrate a milestone for the brand's Re programme, which has kept more than 50,000 garments in circulation since launching in 2023. The programme gives customers the opportunity to return genuine Lucy & Yak clothing, which is then assessed for resale, repair or recycling.

The event will also mark the launch of Repairs for Life, a new scheme offering UK Comfort Club members free repairs on eligible Lucy & Yak garments for the lifetime of the clothing.

A working repair station will be set up at the fair, where the brand's in-house menders will repair clothes on site.

Visitors will be able to browse more than 40 rails of pre-loved and (Im)Perfect Lucy & Yak clothing, alongside one-off samples and new-season stock, across the 7,500 sq ft warehouse.placeholder image

Lydia Coley, managing director at Lucy & Yak, said: "Lucy & Yak began in Yorkshire, with Lucy and Chris living in a van called Yak and selling vintage clothes, so bringing the Circular Fashion Fair to Sheffield feels like coming home.

"Keeping 50,000 garments in circulation is a huge moment for us, and launching Repairs for Life means our Comfort Club members can keep their favourite Yaks going for as long as they love them.

"We wanted to celebrate with the community that got us here, and show that sustainable fashion doesn't have to be serious or expensive. It can be joyful, creative and for everybody."

The fair will also feature an independent business market with Sheffield makers and organisations, including Sheffield Action on Plastic, Oh Laura, ArtWorks SY and Reyt Repair.

Speakers across the weekend will include BBC Sewing Bee's Nicole Akong, Lucy & Yak co-founder Chris Renwick, former ASOS sustainability director Simon Platts, body confidence coach Laura Ferry and TikTok creator Ella Mollie.

Sheffield contributors will include Morgan Crawford, Alison, the Sheffield Stylistician, and Tee Hurwitz Gray.

Lucy & Yak was founded in Yorkshire in 2017 by Lucy Greenwood and Chris Renwick.

The Circular Fashion Fair will take place at Peddler Warehouse, 92 Burton Road, Neepsend, Sheffield, S3 8BX, from October 23 to 25.
