A lifeline for consumers with problems

ALMOST half a million calls have been made to Consumer Direct since its launch three years ago - and home maintenance is the number one complaint.

Second hand cars, furniture, phones and audio-visual equipment complete the top five.

Consumer Direct aims to make it easier for everyone to get quality advice when they need it - the service is open six days a week and 96 per cent of calls are answered in under 20 seconds.
