Library focus on life at Hall

A HISTORICAL talk focusing on life at Hardwick Hall is to be presented at Chesterfield Library.

The discussion on Friday will be presented by Philip Riden, Derbyshire county editor of the Victoria County History.

It will focus on the period between the deaths of Bess of Hardwick in 1608 and the first Duke of Devonshire in 1707.

The talk will discuss the Cavendish family fortune, from extensive land holdings to financial investments in lead smelting, coal mining and the East India Company.

Tickets are available from the library and are 3 (concessions available).
