Lib Dems rap for PM Brown

SHEFFIELD Council's Liberal Democrat group leader has criticised the Government after Prime Minister Gordon Brown revealed he will not be holding an election this year.

Coun Paul Scriven, who is standing for the party in Sheffield Central parliamentary constituency, said: "After all the bluff and blunder of the Prime Minister, the people of Sheffield Central feel let down that they cannot go to the polls and elect a new MP who can offer a fresh start.

"Many people have told me in the last week that they really wanted to make it clear to Labour that they feel let down on such issues as the NHS, education, the environment, debt and student debt."
