More than 1,000 groups, individuals and businesses will be making it better for Sheffield Children’s Hospital today.
The Children’s Hospital Charity’s annual fundraising day, Make it Better Day, will see participants raising heaps of cash for the hospital’s new wing appeal.
Staff at The Star are among those grabbing a slice of the action - by holding a bake sale in our offices.
Across the country, branches of Royal Bank of Scotland, Halifax, Barclays and HSBC are also getting involved by holding raffles, selling merchandise and collecting money.
Kellie Bird, from the Royal Bank of Scotland, which will hold a raffle across all of the bank’s branches, said: “This is a great chance for our staff across England and Wales to join in and make a difference to the lives of children, while helping foster team bonding and boosting team morale.
“The Children’s Hospital Charity is brilliant cause, bringing world-class facilities and equipment to The Children’s Hospital in Sheffield.”
Work started on the new wing last year and is expected to last until summer 2016.
The new wing will include a new outpatients department, a giant play tower and an outdoor courtyard. There will also be three new wards, complete with mostly private en suite rooms offering entertainment systems and beds for parents.
Last year’s Make it Better Day raised over £60,000.
