Popular Krazy Races heading back to Sheffield for 2027

The first Sheffield Krazy Races proved a huge hit

The return of Krazy Races in Sheffield has been confirmed following a hugely successful inaugural event in the city earlier this year.

Krazy Races will once again take over the city in partnership with local charity Roundabout, bringing a day packed with gravity-powered racing, outrageous costumes, spectacular homemade karts and family entertainment on Sunday, June 20 2027,

The first Sheffield Krazy Races proved a huge hit, with thousands of spectators turning out to cheer on teams as they battled it out on the course for glory.

From local businesses and community groups to schools, families and groups of friends, the event brought people from across Sheffield together for a unique celebration of creativity, competition and community spirit.

And, most importantly, it helped raise vital funds and awareness for Roundabout, supporting its work with young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across South Yorkshire.

Roundabout provides shelter, support and life-changing opportunities to young people, helping them move towards safe, secure and independent futures.

Team entry fees and sponsorship from Sheffield Krazy Races will once again support Roundabout’s vital work, meaning every team taking to the track can help make a difference to young people in the region.

Following the success of the first event, anticipation is already building for 2027, with team spaces now officially open.

Local businesses, schools, colleges, community groups, families and groups of friends are being invited to get involved and become part of Sheffield Krazy Races 2027.

Between 20 to 40 teams will be selected to design, build and race their own gravity-powered soapbox kart, taking on the course in a bid to claim one of the coveted Krazy Races trophies.

Teams will compete across categories including Fastest Kart, Best Design, Best Performance and the all-important Public Vote.

Whether teams are aiming for racing glory, designing the most outrageous kart imaginable, or simply looking for an unforgettable day out with friends and colleagues, Sheffield Krazy Races offers something for everyone.

Businesses can also get involved through sponsorship opportunities, giving local companies the chance to support Roundabout’s work while putting their brand in front of thousands of spectators and becoming part of one of Sheffield’s most exciting community events.

Away from the racing, spectators can expect another action-packed day of family entertainment, with food and drink, activities and plenty happening throughout the event.

Danny Scoffin, Head of Business at Krazy Races, said: “After such a fantastic first Sheffield Krazy Races, we’re incredibly excited to be coming back in 2027.

“The response from the city was brilliant and it was amazing to see businesses, community groups, families and spectators all getting behind the event.

“Krazy Races is about much more than what happens on the track. It’s about bringing people together, creating something memorable and, through our partnership with Roundabout, making a genuine difference to young people across South Yorkshire.

“We can’t wait to see what Sheffield comes up with for 2027. The teams really raised the bar last time, so we’re expecting some seriously creative and seriously Krazy karts!”

Roundabout Fundraising Manager Emily Jones commented: “Krazy Races was a fantastic debut event for us and we are delighted to confirm that we are bringing it back for summer 2027.

“It was wonderful to see so many people in the city centre, enjoying a fantastic fun day for all the family and what was even more wonderful for us is that those people not only gave so generously to Roundabout but they also went home knowing much more about the work we are doing every day with the region’s most vulnerable young people.

“We can’t wait to welcome everybody back for 2027 for what we know will be any even bigger and better Krazy Races!”

With team spaces now open, organisers are encouraging anyone interested in taking part to get their applications in early as team spaces are expected to go fast.

A launch even for Krazy Races 2027 will be held at Sheffield Town Hall on Monday, September 28 from 10am to 1pm. To save a place visit Krazy Races - Roundabout Homeless Charity
