Hunt for drive-by gunman

POLICE are hunting a gunman who blasted a Sheffield teenager in the arm from a passing car.

The 16-year-old was due to undergo surgery today to remove the bullet.

The teenager, described as local by police, was a passenger in a car on Carlisle Street, Attercliffe, when he was shot at from another vehicle.

Police have not yet revealed whether the cars were moving or whether both vehicles were stationary at the time.

The victim was detained in hospital overnight and was due to be operated on today, although his injuries are not life threatening.

The shooting happened near to the junction with Newhall Road and Owler Lane at around 9.30pm last night.
