Half a million bus service passengers

A SHEFFIELD bus service is celebrating after notching up more than half a million passengers.

The P1/P2 Crosslink bus service runs from Southey Green to Parson Cross and links people with the Northern General Hospital, medical centres, post offices and local shops.

For many it is the only way to get to their workplace from the area.

It calls at the Colley Sports Centre, Chaucer Comprehensive School, Fox Hill, Wadsley Bridge, Shirecliffe, Norwood, Northern General Hospital, Firth Park shopping area and Longley.

It runs hourly from Monday to Saturday, from 7am to 7pm, and is operated by Sheffield Community Transport, part funded by South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive.

Pam Horner, external relations manager at the executive, said: “This is a valuable community service designed to provide local links to local facilities. The fact that half a million people have benefited shows how valuable it is."

Ian Jenkinson, from Sheffield Community Transport, said: "We have been proud to provide the Crosslink service since it started in 2002.’’
