Golf day with a big punch

A CHARITY golf day organised by a Sheffield firm raised almost £3,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Crusteel Ltd, on Rutland Way, hosted the event at Bondhay Golf Club clubhouse on Bondhay Lane, Whitwell Common, near Worksop.

‘Terrible’ Tim Witherspoon, ex-double World Heavyweight Champion of the World, and ‘Big’ Joe Egan attended the event which raised 1,400.

Crusteel Ltd then agreed to match that amount – making a total of 2,800 for Macmillan Cancer Research.

A pair of Tim's boxing gloves were auctioned off as part of the event.

Rick Lowe, managing director at Crusteel Ltd, said: “Without Terrible Tim Witherspoon and Big Joe Egan’s help this would not have been possible.’’
