Sheffield residents are invited to share the stories behind objects, relics and family heirlooms from World War One.

Sheffield University and Museums Sheffield are co-hosting an open day at Weston Park Museum tomorrow, from 11am to 3.30pm.

Researchers and a photographer will be on hand to record details of the artefacts.

Information about the relics will be used to build a ‘people’s archive for Sheffield’, contributing to Europeana 1914-1918, an online archive at

Military historian and author Tim Lynch will also be present to answer questions about the conflict, while there will also be talks from university researchers, museum curators and history organisations.
