Clubfoot hitmakers Kasabian are celebrating their first decade in the business with a tour which brings them to Sheffield and we have tickets to be won, writes Graham Walker.
They play Sheffield Motorpoint Arema on Saturday, December 13.
The British rockers burst on to the scene 10-years ago with their debut self titled album and their massicve signature hit, Club Foot.
But there is no stopping them – 2014 has been the year of Kasabian.
They headlined Glastonbury, played a historic hometown show in front of 50,000 people at Victoria Park in Leicester and announced a huge autumn tour.
Founding members, vocalist Tom Meighan, guitarist and vocalist Sergio Pizzorno and bassist Chris Edwards, now joined by drummer Ian Matthews, are in the form of their lives both on stage and on record.
They are often regarded as one of the best British bands of the 21st century and, in 2010, they won the Q Award for Best Act in the World Today.
The band are also respected for their live performances, being named Best Live Band at ceremonies on numerous occasions. The band’s music is often described as “indie rock”, but Pizzorno has said he “hates indie bands” and does not feel Kasabian fit into that category.
The band’s music is a mix of The Stone Roses and Primal Scream with the swagger of Oasis. Their music has won them several awards, including a Brit in 2010 for Best British Group and their live performances are generally lauded.
Their acclaimed new album 48:13 – their fourth consecutive number one album – received fantastic reviews across the board and in the live arena they have received some of the best reviews of their career.
Following on from first single Eez-eh, Bumblebee followed during the summer, from their exhilarating new album. Kicking off their set list at Glastonbury it was written for the live arena.
Written and produced by Sergio Pizzorno, 48:13 finds Kasabian in sparkling form on their fifth album recorded mostly in Leicester at the Sergery.
Special guests at Sheffield are the Maccabees.
