DURAN Duran bring their first arena tour in seven years to Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena next month and we have the best seats in the house to be won - on the FRONT ROW, writes digital editor Graham Walker.

We also have 10 copies of their latest Mark Ronson-produced album to give-away, called All You Need Is Now.

The title is a mission statement and a big clue as to the live set fans can expect at their spectacular concert, a mix of new songs and greatest hits from across their 30 year career - such as Girls On Film, Rio, Hungry Like The Wolf and Wild Boys.

Front man Simon Le Bon, with original band mates Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor are at the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday, June 4.

It promises to be a party night celebrating the end of an 11-date UK tour - the band’s first European performances in support of the new album - which will have seen them perform to over 150,000 fans.

And it’s just the start of a world tour that will last well into 2012.

Formed in Birmingham in 1978 by keyboardist Nick Rhodes and bassist John Taylor, Duran Duran’s early sound was an exciting stew of influences - the soul music of their youth, the vibrant New York underground scene of the 1970s spearheaded by Velvet Underground.

The band who helped to create the New Romantic movement in the 1980s and transformed themselves into one of the world’s biggest rock bands continue to attract new generations of fans, headlining summer festivals.

Their legacy is 80 million album sales and five Lifetime Achievement Awards alongside Brits and Ivor Novellos.

All You Need Is Now includes guest vocals/rap from band Scissor Sisters’ Ana Matronic and Kelis, with string arrangements from Arcade Fire’s Owen Pallett.

Ronson has dubbed the new record “the imaginary follow up to Rio that never was.”

In an exclusive chat with The Star - listen to it in full, here online - Le Bon said: “It’s a feeling of where we are in our career and realising the only way you can continue is not to look back or forward but to get this bit right.

“The tour in a way is the fruit on the tree. You get directly into people’s minds. It’s what I love about it. You’re there, it’s the moment.

“And that’s a big theme with the album. If you can get this bit right, the ‘now’ right, then it doesn’t matter where you’ve been or what you do in the future.”

“We’re not going out playing a greatest hits tour with this show, it’s fully integrated new music and old, but we’ll put new songs in so they make sense with the old.”
