From Hollywood to Broadway... to Dronfield - some girls will go to any lengths to find their perfect man.
And here comes Thoroughly Modern Millie now.
It started life as a Hollywood movie extravaganza starring Julie Andrews, before heading for the Broadway stage and the West End.
The comic story of a young stenographer, looking for her ideal husband in 1920s New York, is coming to the stage at Dronfield Civic Theatre in a new production by Woodseats Musical Theatre Company.
Following the success of shows like The Boyfriend and Kiss Me Kate, director Mary Newey is confident that the company’s 2014 production will be another hit for the group.
Heading the cast as the social climbing Millie is Sue Claydon, with the men in her life played by Jamie Cooke and South Yorkshire amateur theatre favourite Richard Carlin.
Look out too for Danielle Smith as crazy millionairess Muzzy Van Hossmere and Marilyn Barker as mysterious hotelier and white slaver Mrs Meers.
“This is a great toe-tapping musical for everyone to enjoy,” said Mary.
“With fantastic songs, outrageous comedy and some snappy dance routines, we aim to create a memorable night in Dronfield.”
Thoroughly Modern Millie runs at Dronfield Civic Theatre from June 18 to 21.
