Singers in Sheffield are to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of composer Benjamin Britten with a special performance.

Hallam Choral Society are joining forces with the Tideswell Singers and the Hallam Synfonia for The World of the Spirit. There will also be a performance of Gounod’s Messe Solennelle St Cecilia, celebrating the patron saint of music.

Rosemary Blackie, of Hallam Choral Society, said: “This will be an opportunity to hear a piece rarely performed and also a composition with a difference from the great composer.”

The event will take place at Ecclesall Parish Church, Ringinglow Road, on Saturday, November 23. Doors open at 7.30pm.
