Have your say

HE’S the British boy who is in danger of becoming the biggest new name in pop – and he’s just showed Sheffield why, writes Grace Carroll.

Conor Maynard fans call themselves ‘Mayniacs’ and judging by the reaction when he performed at the O2 Academy that’s really rather apt. The 19-year-old was met by a wall of screams when he bounded on stage - a cheeky grin and a wave serving only to increase the volume.

The stage banter was kept to a minimum as at times Conor seemed almost overwhelmed by the attention - a few rallying cries of ‘Mayniacs, are you ready to party?’ seeming to suffice.

There’s no doubt this young chap can sing, either.

A medley of Drake covers showcased his voice especially well and his songs got a strong reaction, although it’s doubtful whether Conor could do anything that wouldn’t be met with screams.

The undeniable highlight was when Conor introduced début Can’t Say No, currently at number two in the charts, mobile phones lighting up in the audience as the teenager adjusted his baseball cap.
