SOUTH Yorkshire stars the Arctic Monkeys have been nominated in two categories at the national Mojo awards.

The band’s Don’t Sit Down Because I’ve Moved Your Chair is up for best song with Suck It And See up for best album.

The rock magazine’s annual awards party will be held in London on July 21.

Other nominations included Arcade Fire, who are up for best album and soul singer Aloe Blacc, whose I Need A Dollar is up for best song.

Arcade Fire are also nominated for best live act.

Car in flames: A VAUXHALL Astra burst into flames in Southey Hall Road, Southey Green, Sheffield, early yesterday morning. Firefighters from Elm Lane station tackled the blaze which was accidental.

Bike arson: A moped was set on fire in Hoyle Mill, Cudworth, Barnsley, at 8.15am yesterday. The blazing bike at Hoyle Mill Pond, just off Pontefract Road, was extinguished by firefighters.

Seaside concert: MEMBERS of a Sheffield brass band will be entertaining the crowds when they perform a concert in Scarborough tomorrow. The Sheffield 13 Brass Ensemble will take centre stage in Peasholm Park, and have asked Sheffield residents who are on holiday in the town to attend. The concert starts at 2.30pm.

Grass blaze: GRASS near tennis courts caught fire in Tapton Park, Crow Lane, Chesterfield. Firefighters used beaters to put out the flames. Undergrowth caught alight in Pipworth Lane, Eckington, and trees and a hedgerow caught fire in Ringwood Road, Brimington, Chesterfield.

Waste land and undergrowth caught fire in Barlow Leeds Lane, Dronfield, and a rubbish blaze broke out on wasteland in Allendale Road, Wingfield, Chesterfield.

Crash on bypass: A SALOON car was made safe by firefighters following a single-vehicle road smash and blaze on the Dronfield bypass in the early hours of Friday. A separate road smash in Market Street, Clay Cross, caused a vehicle to leak petrol.

Fire at flat: FIRE crews dealt with a blaze at a flat in Meadow Road, Holmgate near Chesterfield. They used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to put out the fire which broke out at 11pm on Thursday night.
